Does getting a tattoo hurt?

This depends on the area, if this is your first tattoo we recommend the upper arm or back to get started. Some people are not as sensitive as others and can handle the feeling and can even acquire a craving for it. Often people build up a pre-tattoo fear factor and then once they feel the power of the needles they learn it is not all that. Some even complain of the lack of pain once they feel our new age equipment.

Can you help with the pain?

Yes! Once you feel the prick of the needle or needles your own natural defense for pain will begin to counteract the pain with what is called "endorphin activates." This is a neurochemical occurring naturally in the brain and having analgesic properties that becomes active with the fist sign of pain. We also have medical proven analgesic topical that we can use before (a cream form) or after the skin is broken (a spray) and they may also be used together for even more protection again pain.

Do some areas hurt more then others?

Yes, we believe the most painful areas are on the feet and the arm pit area. The area under the arm is more tender then the outer area and this is one reason so many do not have arm bands all the way around. We here at the beehive have a technique to beat the endorphin run out time and we can also spray the area with the best topical analgesic so you can relax and let us finish the job.

How safe is getting a Tattoo and can I catch any thing?

How safe is it? It depends on the Shop and how clean it is. There are two rooms you should inspect before taking up any ones time at the proposed site. The Bathroom and the Area you will be tattooed in. You can also call ahead or ask these most important questions: "What is your Health Department Score" Another question would be: "Can I see your Autoclave Testing Certificates?" Notice if the shop is testing weekly or monthly. Both are good. Weekly testing is best! Now if they don't seem to have any or you notice it has been a long time then consider how safe that is or is not. Beehive Tattoos tests weekly and we proudly display our certificates.
